ABOUT TABREED
Ever since Tabreed was commissioned by the UAE Government to construct a district cooling plant in Suweihan in the late 1990s, the company has continued to play a vital role in enabling the nation’s economic development by providing pioneering cooling solutions to key infrastructure projects - first in the UAE, and later, across the GCC
In the UAE, during the peak summer months, air-conditioning typically accounts for 70% of energy consumption. By utilizing approximately 50% less energy, district cooling helps reduce costs to owners and governments alike, while also protecting the environment by decreasing carbon dioxide emissions.
Today, Tabreed provides its district cooling services to many of the region’s landmark projects including all the developments on Abu Dhabi’s Al Maryah Island, home to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Global Market, all the developments on Yas Island such as Ferrari World, Yas Marina Circuit and Yas Mall, in addition to other national and regional landmarks including Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Dubai Metro, Dubai Parks & Resorts, Pearl Island in Qatar, Bahrain Financial Harbour in Bahrain as well as both Aramco Development Project in Al Dhahran and Jebal Omar Development Project in Mecca, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to name just a few.
Its services have reduced energy consumption in the GCC by more than 1.4 billion kilowatt hours annually, which has led to the elimination of over 713,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from our atmosphere – the equivalent of removing over 143,000 cars from our streets every year.
In the 19 years since its establishment, Tabreed has become the region’s leading district cooling provider. Its portfolio now includes 71 plants in the GCC that deliver over 1 Million refrigeration tons to projects vital to their respective nations’ economic development and diversification.
